Scot and Jorie Bail spent the last year teaching in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. They teach at an English-speaking private Christian school, Los Pinares. Scot is a substitute teacher for all grades and Jorie, a WCHS graduate, is an art teacher. Scot and Jorie are home for a visit this summer. On a side trip to Nicaragua, they saw a retired school bus from Goshen. "It's good to see that vehicles have an extended life expectancy out of the country." Several modes of transportation are available in South America – via bus, horsepower or foot power.

David Darr, recent graduate of Warsaw Community High School, accepts a plaque from George White, president of United Telephone Co., in recognition of his academic accomplishments, which included winning a $10,000 Eisenhower Memorial Scholarship. Michele Grinstead is United's staff attorney and a former Eisenhower Scholarship winner.
WCHS grad Amy Craig turned her feelings about graduation into poetry and won the Golden Poet Award from one million entries. "In appreciation to my parents, Mr. & Mrs. Jim Craig, for what they've done for me in the last 18 years."

There was a hot night at the Warsaw Speedway as 72 cars competed. The races were dotted by several accidents, but no serious injuries. In one instance, Max Lambert of North Manchester tangled with Dick Leiter of Warsaw. Leiter lost a wheel, the result being that Lambert flipped end over end in front of the grandstand. Jerry Egolf, North Manchester, won the jalopy race; Bob Jonas, LaPorte, stock feature race; Pinkey Stewart, Kokomo, consolation race; DeWayne Fox, Columbia City, six fastest stock cars race. Heat winners: Don Murphy, South Whitley; Larry Bills, Columbia City; and Larry Baker, Chick Engle, and Charlie Gross, all of Warsaw.

Shipment was received of 10,000 Warsaw Daily Times/ Merchants half-price matinee discount tickets for the Russell Brothers Circus, appearing in Warsaw June 10. The tickets will entitle the bearer to the half-price of 20 cents for adults and 10 cents for children for the afternoon showing. Regular admission is 40 cents and 20 cents. Warsaw merchants will distribute them among their customers until the supply is exhausted. Circus officials say there are thousands of free seats at no additional charge.
