Warsaw Policeman Judd Pittenger and Ivan Ginn took into custody Sherwood Kimes, of Gary, Ind., shoe store clerk, and within 20 minutes, found that he had stolen an automobile in Valparaiso early yesterday and was wanted for theft of $200 from his employer’s store in Gary. Officers from Valparaiso took Kimes back to Valparaiso to face a vehicle-taking charge. He had stolen a car from a local Ford dealer there, drove to Warsaw, and ran out of gas on North Lake Street and applied to the American Legion for a loan of $3, leaving the key as security. Warsaw police found him inebriated and walking on East Center Street near Scott Street, leaving town on foot. On Sunday, he had used his store key to enter the R. and S. Shoe Store in Gary. Manager Abe Shoen called the police. None of the money was found on Kimes. The abandoned car was returned to its owner.[[In-content Ad]]
