    Four area residents became American citizens July 3 at ceremonies in South Bend. They are Rosa Castor, Mexico; Sara Espino, Columbia, who has been in the United States 13 years; Elizabeth Roberts, Ecuador, 13 years; and Mario Reinoso, Chile, 22 years.

    Two members of the Warsaw Community High School Future Farmer's of America Chapter - Amy Jurss and Sharon Boggs - were among four youths named top leaders of the State FFA Leadership Camp recently.

Local FFA members attending the camp were Jurss, Boggs, Gary Parker, Joel Kerchenfant, Brian Thomas, Randall Byrer and Mike Walther.

August 24 1957

    James R. Meyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Meyer, North Manchester, is a yeoman seaman on the carrier USS Lake Champlain recently back from a Mediterranean duty tour.

The Champlain visited Cannes, Nappels, Valencia and Barcelona between exercises with the Sixth Fleet. Early in May it was one of the ships which made a high speed run to the Eastern mediterranean for a show of strength to back up President Eisenhower's Middle East doctrine.

August 24 1932

    James Decker and Lester Cauffman, Claypool residents, have erected a building near the Big Four railroad in the south section of Claypool, which they are equipping as a basket factory. They plan to have the factory in operation within the next week.
