SP4 Jerry Laurien, son of Mr. & Mrs. Paul Laurien, Winona Lake, and stationed at Bad Kreuznach, Germany, was selected by a board of officers as the “Battalion’s Soldier of the Month.” He was awarded a $25 Savings Bond, a three-day pass, and an engraved Battalion stein. Jerry entered the Army an Sept. 5, 1961, and took his basic training at Fort Knox, Ky.
Veterans of Foreign Wars held a parade in downtown Warsaw Saturday. In addition to color guards and marching bands, Miss Liberty was riding in the back of a vintage Ford pick-up truck.

Elmer “Tug” Wagner, former Warsaw resident and son of Mr. & Mrs. J. P. Wagner, 707 W. Market St., has been placed in charge of the city water works department of Tucson, Ariz. His many friends in Warsaw will be pleased to learn of his good fortune in securing this responsible position. Tucson is the state's second largest city with a population of 60,000 persons.
Demaris Black, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Stanley Black, North Webster, received a scholarship to Spencer College, a business school in New Orleans, La. She graduated from North Webster High School this spring and received the scholarship on the merits of her ranking in commercial subjects.[[In-content Ad]]
