Nestled comfortably into the trees, deep in the heart of the City of Warsaw, a quaint hotel is in the process of becoming reality. Formerly housing Sym Financial, the owners of the old brick house on Center Street near the Wagon Wheel Playhouse have opted to open a hotel, “White Hill Manor,” because of its spaciousness. The house, of English architectural style, was built in 1934 by Zimmer Inc. founder J. O. Zimmer and purchased by Frank Saemann in the 1950s. “We want to restore the house to its structural origin,” says co-owner Brent Wilcoxson. The walls of the game room once had the names of Zimmer’s guests burned into the wood. The names were later sanded off when the Saemann family bought it.

The City Council unanimously approved the plan of the Board of Public Works to submit additional WPA projects for Warsaw to J.M. Hixon, South Bend, regional director for street work. According to blueprints submitted by city engineer Don H. Lessig, nine miles of unpaved streets on which curb, guttering, and a black-top pavement would be laid, would be improved; two miles of alleys in the business district would be paved; and eight blocks of new streets would be opened and graded. Provision is made for widening several brick streets through the business district; Main from Buffalo to Detroit, Market from Lake to Indiana, and Buffalo from Jefferson to Main. Estimates on cost of materials total $168,214.77.[[In-content Ad]]
