    Norman E. Hankins, a lifetime resident of Warsaw, will celebrate his 75th birthday June 19, 1999. His two sons, Mike Hankins, Temple, Texas, and Larry Hankins, Reno , Nev., will return to Warsaw to celebrate with their father, other family members and friends.

Norman is retired from the Warsaw Post Office and is a member of the First Christian Church.

    It's pickin' and grinnin' time at the Warsaw Christian Women's Club luncheon held recently at the International Friendship House, Winona Lake.

Pickin' berries will be the special feature presented by Sam Erwin of Pickin' Patch. Pickin' and grinnin' will be Karen Ridderman, local soloist and guitarist, special musician for the luncheon.

50 Years Ago

June 24 1959

    Philip P. Pratt, 22, of Rochester, has been named to succeed Duane Fites as basketball coach at Claypool High School. Fites recently resigned to accept a position as head coach at Argos. Pratt also will teach social studies and driver training.


75 Years Ago

June 24 1934

    The Royal Neighbors Lodge met for a regular business meeting at the Red Men's hall, with 22 members in attendance. The initiation degree was conferred on Mrs. Edith King, Miss Eileen Davis and William J. Davis. The affair also honored members, whose birthday anniversaries occur in April, May and June. A large pink and white birthday cake, which was presented by Mrs. Florence Dock, was served.
