 At an awards gala held recently in Fort Wayne, two area businesses were named winners of the Northern Indiana 2002 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards. Kip Tom, Tom Farms LLC, Leesburg, won in the small manufacturing category; Norman and Dorothy Snyder, Warsaw Party Shops Inc., Warsaw, won the award in the retail category. More than 400 people attended the event.

 This American recipe is for Omelette Surprise and was submitted by Robert Brilliandt, Warsaw. It was published in the Spotlight International Recipe Contest.
 Ingredients: 4 eggs; 1/4 cup milk; 1/2 cup chopped onions; 1/2 cup chopped green peppers; 1/4 cup chopped cauliflower; 1/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese; 1/4 cup Blush Rose wine; 1/2 tsp. hickory smoked salt; 1/2 tsp. lemon pepper; Dash tarragon; Dash thyme; Dash marjoram; 1/2 cup chopped celery; 3 strips bacon. Crisp fry bacon and crumble. Saute onions, peppers, cauliflower and celery. Stir briskly eggs, milk, cheese and wine. Fold in vegetables. Fry covered on moderate heat until golden brown.

 One of the Queen of Lakes contestants June 30 at the North Webster Mermaid Festival will be Sally Louise Albert entered as “Miss Leesburg.” The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Albert, Leesburg, Sally Louise is 16 years old, stands 5 feet 7 and one-half inches tall, weighs 131 pounds, has brown eyes and light brown hair. She is sponsored by Leesburg High School.

 Miss Cora Deardorff, manager of Gezireh Cottage at Winona Lake, left on a 10-days trip to Harvard University and the New England states with Mrs. DuShane of South Bend and Mrs. Nuner, her daughter. Mrs. Nuner’s son has earned a scholarship and is leaving this week for Germany where he will enter school for the summer.
