Members of Boy Scout Troop 715 volunteered to assist Roy Bradbury and the American Legion in putting out 1,200 American flags on graves of the military at Oakwood Cemetery: Brandon Lee, Robert Jenks, Mike Meadows, Wesley Craig, Jordan Friddle, Shelton Coffelt, Robert Lee, Robert Coffelt, Patrick Olson, Robert Friddle, Craig Schneider and Bruce Poling.
    Ramada Wagon Wheel Theatre owner Bruce Shaffner and Warsaw Mayor Ernie Wiggins cut the ribbon to kick off the theatre's 50th summer season. The first of six productions is “Annie Get Your Gun,” which opens June 1 and runs through June 18. Warsaw Mayor Jeff Plank started collecting basketball cards three years ago; his sons--Ryan, Andy and Justin--all collect sports cards. Yesterday, Micah Kreisher, 9, sat on the front steps of Snyder's Coin and Jewelry looking through the Beckett Basketball price guide he just purchased. “I collect cards because it's fun and I like it.”

Paul M. Scott wrote a poem to honor Mrs. Gladys Culver. Mrs. Culver attended North Webster school from grades one through 12, graduating in a class of 15 from North Webster High School and then Ball State University, and returning to North Webster to spend 29 years teaching second grade.
    Doyle D. Hathaway, 70, Danville, Pa., came home to attend the 50th reunion of Claypool High School's Class of 1915. He resided in Warsaw 42 years ago when he was associated with the United Telephone Co. His brother Vere, a former street-car conductor on the Warsaw-Winona Railway, died in 1949. The mayor of Danville asked Mr. Hathaway to rid the community of pigeons after reading that he was given an award for teaching firearms safety. He has “rubbed out” 678 pigeons since then.

Veteran fireman and driver Joe Rapp says Syracuse's sleek new stream-lined fire truck will pump a total of 300 gallons of water per minute. A pumper and hook-up ladder outfit is kept in reserve. Other members of the volunteer department are Lloyd Disher, Bob Streiby, C.W. (Wade) Zerbie, Peck Kline, Roscoe Howard, C.W. (Benny) Howard, James Searfos, Orville Kling and Peter Plew.
    Charles Bartol and Harold Beatty, both Warsaw, reported finding 700 mushrooms in about five hours Sunday. After a short rest, they hiked back into the country to gather about 100 more. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Knoop, of East Main Street, said they plucked 413 mushrooms during a jaunt in the woods Sunday. Also Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Breading found 100 sponge mushrooms in a short period of time.[[In-content Ad]]
