A 5-year-old Warsaw boy is being viewed as a hero after pulling a 3-year-old from the water at Frantz Park in Logansport. Tara Smith, of Warsaw, said she and her family were returning home from a trip to Indiana Beach when they made a stop at the park. After playing with the four children in her group, Smith said she made a head count of the children and noticed that Evan Ousley, one of her twins, was still in the water and a youngster was under water in front of him, with only his arms showing. Evan grabbed the child under his arms and walked backward, dragging the coughing and sputtering toddler from the water.

Jeremy Greene, Warsaw, placed fourth in the American Motorcycle Association state moto-cross competition last year, during his first year of racing. He started learning at the age of 4 (with training wheels), and now has about 20 trophies commemorating his success during the 1986 and 1987 season.

Marilyn and Marcia Mikesell have a list of favorite places to show Renate Schaefer on their last trip together before she returns to Germany. The girls met last summer when the Mikesell family toured Europe, and this past year have shared a spacious bedroom-study in the Mikesell home at Winona. During Christmas vacation Renate went with them to Florida. Marcia will be the only young lady of the house when fall comes and her sister Marilyn departs for Hanover College.
