    In a surprise move that stunned some members of the Warsaw Police Dept., Mayor Ernest Wiggins made a change at the top of the organization.

Wiggins replaced Police chief Craig Allebach with Capt. Steve Foster this morning.

    Six teachers who are retiring from the Warsaw Community School Corp. are: Dean Ford (Warsaw Middle School, social studies teacher, 39 years experience); Florance Horn (Jefferson, kindergarten, 16 years); Ellen Kiefer (Middle School, English, 33 years); Russell Kistler (Claypool, third grade, 27 years); Elizabeth Olson (Madison, fourth grade, 31 years); and Gerald Miller (Washington, special education, 23 years).

    Eighteen-year-old Dian Alfrey, The Times-Union June calendar girl, poses at the end of the pier at her lakefront home in Syracuse, to remind us that June is the start of the summer season. Dian, a Syracuse High School graduate last month, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Alfrey. She plans to enter college in the fall.


75 Years Ago

June 1 1934

    Seven Warsaw Tiger cindermen were awarded letters at the culmination of the school term for excelling in track. Those to receive awards were Robert Jonas, Carl Latta, George Hatfield, Burnham Light, Frederick Olds, Melvin Schue and Russell Wilson. Frederick Olds was elected the team's captain for the year.
