    The Boys and Girls Club of Kosciusko County captured second place in the 10-and-under state basketball tournament of the Indiana Boys and Girls Club Workers Association. Players are Kiira Leeper, Jackie Amos, Tracy Robers, Emily Johnson, Julie Seiss, Erica Stouder, Chelsea Rhoades, Kally Dirico and Marilyn Park, who was recently awarded the Max Jones Sportsmanship award during the basketball season.

    Brett C. Welty, son of Lowell and Mary Lou Welty, Etna Green, has been selected as a cadet for the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colo.

He is a 1982 graduate of Triton High School and is completing his freshman year at Purdue University, Lafayette, majoring in aeronautical engineering.

May 6 1958

    At the Central Conference track and field championship in Peru, Warsaw High School made a fine showing, capturing two individual first and one of the mile relay races in record time of 3:36. Truman Libby stepped the fastest mile of his career - 4:38 - to win that event, and Larry Ruch won the pole vault at 11 feet 6 inches.

    It seems as if in Warsaw the milkman's horse has never seen a cow. Anyway, the horse was so frightened when he saw a cow being led down a road that the horse started to run and was finally stopped only after he had dragged the milk wagon and driver into a ditch beside the road. Chauncey Rife, of Warsaw, was the milk wagon driver. He says the old horse has been delivering milk for years but probably never saw a cow in the daylight.
