    Warsaw Radio Stations WRSW AM-FM have been sold to GBC Media of Winona Lake.

The sale was finalized recently following approval granted by the Federal Communications Commission, Washington, D.C.

    Otterbein United Methodist Church of Atwood will celebrate its anniversary on May 6. Otterbein Church is part of the United Methodist denomination which is this year celebrating its bicentennial. The United Methodist Church began at the celebrated Christmas conference in 1784 at Lovely Lane Church in Baltimore, Md. More than 40 denominations in the United States trace their beginnings to that famous conference.

    Some fishermen get 'em, some don't. Retired Warsaw businessman Jess Mellencamp falls in the first category after he caught a 5 pound, 2 ounce bass in Winona Lake, using rod and reel with a tempting nightcrawler as bait. Mellencamp said it was one of the largest bass he had ever caught.


75 Years Ago

May 4 1934

    Word has been received by Warsaw officers that one of the guns seized from the cottage in the Wisconsin woods where the John Dillinger gang was cornered, but escaped, was the revolver stolen from Police Officer J.H. Pittenger.

The gun has been identified by the bureau of investigation at Chicago as the gun taken from Pittenger by John Dillinger and Homer Van Meter when the bullet proof vests were stolen from the Warsaw police station several weeks ago. [[In-content Ad]]
