10 Years
Kosciusko County's 2006 Lilly Endowment Community Scholars: Lauren Cooper, daughter of Gary and Shayna Cooper, and Kyle Watson, son of Toby and Joyce Young. Both are in the National Honor Society at Warsaw Community High School. Lauren is the senior class president and is ranked No. 1 in her class. She is employed part-time at Biomet as an intern in the international department. Kyle is in the top 4 percent of his class. He has worked at Pizza King the last four years and also is employed at Kosciusko Community YMCA.
Heather Marie Walenga, Warsaw, accepted membership in Golden Key International Honor Society during ceremonies at Indiana State University in Terre Haute. There are more than 1.6 million members worldwide.

50 Years
Jane Ettinger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Ettinger, Mentone, and Kristine Hoffer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hoffer, Palestine, received straight A's during the fourth grading period at Talma Junior High School. Both are eighth-graders.
Emory Guy put the first coat of paint on the steps of the newly constructed justice of the peace office, which was added to the present Syracuse Town Hall. JP Chris Koher has been holding court in the new office.
Mrs. Floyd (Willodene) Hill, Auditor of the First National Bank of Warsaw, was elected Division Secretary of the Indiana Division of the National Association of Bank Women held in Indianapolis. She has been associated with the bank for the past 18 years.
75 Years
Lieut. Willis R. Sand, of Company L, Warsaw, was commanded by Col. Robert L. Stilwell to attend rifle and heavy weapon company course at Fort Benning, Ga. from March 9 to June 6, returning to Camp Shelby, Miss. after completion of the course.
Robbery at the Farmers' Mutual office in the Legion building early Thursday morning, March 6, was the second occurring in Warsaw in eight days. The Elks' Club was robbed February 25th.
Mr. and Mrs. Almon Gerard are vacationing in Miami, Fla., where Mrs. Gerard (Alee) has been invited to display four of her canvas paintings in the art gallery there. Her instructor is an illustrator for the Saturday Evening Post.
