Matt Clinger, a sophomore at Purdue University, was recently elected president of the Purdue University chapter of Beta Tau fraternity, a construction engineering honorary. Matt is a 2000 graduate of Warsaw Community High School, and the son of Ron and Joyce Clinger.
Angela C’Connell, Warsaw, was recently accepted into the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society at Ball State University. O’Connell is a freshman majoring in elementary education. She is the daughter of Pat and Jonell O’Connell, Warsaw.

Mrs. Betty Ellison has been chosen to represent the United States as an attache for the country of Belize (formerly British Honduras) in the Pan Am Games this August. She retired in 1981, with 20 years as a Spanish teacher at Warsaw High School behind her. Although she regards teaching as one of the most exciting things she’s ever done, she retired with plans to travel with her husband, Robert. Five months after her husband’s death, Ellison saw an article in the Indianapolis Star requesting applicants for Spanish-speaking persons to serve as volunteers at the 10th Pan Am Games.

An unusual display in front of the Wilson Lawshe residence last week had passers-by doing a double take. One of the evergreen trees in the front yard was loaded with Easter eggs, so highly decorated that many thought it was a Christmas tree. Until a closer look revealed a rabbit underneath this “Easter” tree.

Two hundred pupils of Warsaw Senior High School enjoyed a dance sponsored by members of the Hi-Y recently at the armory. The evening’s entertainment was well under way by 8 o‘clock, making it possible for pupils in training to enjoy at least a portion of the festivities. Those who assisted in making the party a success were: Jack Cluen, general chairman; Tommy and Fred Gilliam and Phil Lucier, publicity committee; Dave Rankin, Dorian Sanders, and Herbert Chinworth, decorating committee; and Ike Hatfield, refreshments.[[In-content Ad]]
