A bit of Warsaw history was destroyed when firemen burned the old Samuel W. Oldfather “Hydropathic Sanitarium” in the 400 block of South Indiana Street. Early in the 1880s, J.J. Robinson, the father of Herbert Robinson, struck a vein of mineral water 1,800 feet deep. Samuel W. Oldfather, grandfather of the present Samuel Oldfather, head of Water Utilities Inc., decided to build a sanitarium at the spot after he had drunk the mineral water and felt it had cured him of rheumatism. The building was finely constructed in modern style, heated with steam, lighted with gas and supplied with all the modern improvements. There were separate wings for ladies and gentlemen.

State highway workers were putting up additional Ind. 25 signs along Market and Detroit streets, thereby extending the highway to the corner of Detroit and Center streets. Former Road 25 entered Warsaw on West Winona Avenue, ran east to Columbia Street, north on Columbia to Market Street, east on Market to Buffalo Street.
Each day during the winter Mrs. Harry Smith stepped to her rear porch and tossed food to the birds. Today she is nursing a broken arm and is suffering from shock. She slipped on the ice and fell while performing her act of kindness.[[In-content Ad]]
