Fire, starting from a bolt of lightning during the height of a recent electrical storm, totally destroyed a large barn on the S.E. Liggett farm, north of Liberty Mills. The farm was tenanted by George Fitch. Estimating damages of $3,000, observers reported the barn burst into flame at 8:45 o’clock immediately after the lightning struck. Neighbors and spectators drawn to the scene were instrumental in saving some of the livestock. S.E. Liggett is the father of Ralph Liggett, of Warsaw and Oswego.
