Warsaw’s Julie Seiss was named to the 2005 Indiana Junior All-Star girls basketball squad, playing for the North team. She led the Tigers in scoring this year with 17.2 points per game, in assists per game (3.5), steals (3.5), blocked shots (6) and was second in rebounds (3.7). Warsaw finished its season 13-10 and fell in the Columbia City Sectional to DeKalb. The Junior All-Stars battle the Indiana All-Stars June 15 in Washington, June 21 in Carmel and June 23 in Richmond.
Marcus A. Hygema, Warsaw, was sworn in by North Webster Town Clerk Betsy Luce as a new patrol officer for the North Webster Police Department. He was previously employed as a jailer at the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and was a National Guard squad leader, serving in Kuwait and Iraq.

Farmer’s State Bank won the championship game of the Flexible Personnel Services basketball league tourney over UST on a last-second shot by Marty Lehman, who led the team with 25 points; Tracey Furnivall added 11 to give the team a perfect 17-0 record. Gordy Clemens paced UST with 22. Other team members are Bill Thomas, John and Rick Littlejohn, Errol White, Mark Sumpter, John Snyder and Troy Furnivall.
Michael Gibson, North Webster, was promoted to the rank of Dan Black Belt at the Kenneth Gillenwater’s Lions Academy. Gibson is one of three original students to join the academy.
The building housing the International Palace of Sports Museum in North Webster has been sold for lack of financial support, and its contents will be auctioned off. Many of the wax figures have been in disrepair for years. The King of Sports will no longer be crowned, but the Palace of Sports Foundation will continue to operate and give out scholarships.

Donna Woodruff has been chosen as the best checker of the year at Warsaw Marsh Supermarket it was announced by Don Tarner, store manager. She was judged for her work performance standards, accuracy, neatness, customer courtesy and efficiency. Donna is married and has two children. As store winner, she receives a Westinghouse portable hair dryer.
Sixth-grader Greg Carpenter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Carpenter, was named grand champion of the Syracuse Science Fair. Runner-up was Randy Speer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Speer.

The Kosciusko County REMC passed its first milestone Feb. 23 and is headed into its second year of service, said William Orr, chairman. REMC now has approximately 400 miles of lines serving 1,035 farms in Kosciusko County and several farms near the county lines with Wabash and Fulton counties. Construction of 35 additional lines would bring electricity to 200 other homes.
Harold Imes, employed for many years as a linotype operator for the Warsaw Union, has accepted a position at Lebanon, Ohio.
Allan Rasor, son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Rasor, and Warsaw Times carrier boy, is confined to his home on East Fort Wayne Street with influenza and throat infection.

Pierceton Council Supports Variance Request For LexLil Contracting
PIERCETON – The Pierceton Town Council voiced their support for a variance request regarding fencing at a local business during its Monday council meeting. Chris Staley, one of LexLil Contracting's owners, said Kosciusko County Area Plan Commission Director Matt Sandy wants him to have fencing around the entirety of his business. If approved, the variance would permit LexLil Contracting to have 100% outside unscreened storage and display.
