Triton Junior/Senior High School will hold an open house Feb. 9 so area residents can see the proposed facility renovation. The building plan includes the addition of an activity gym, wrestling room, three science labs, six classrooms and a main office area, plus infrastructure upgrades. Ted Chittum is Triton superintendent.
After a sophomore season in which she averaged 14 points per game, Jaclyn Leininger came back as a junior to score 21 points per game and lead the Tigers to a 21-2 record. She broke 1976 Miss Basketball Judi Warren’s single season record of 455 points, pushing the new mark to 491, and was named Times-Union “Area Player of the Year.”

In 1968 a group of Northern Indiana women with a desire to win some women to Christ formed the interdenominational group known as Win-Some Women Inc. This year’s spring retreat will be held April 7-9 at Rodeheaver Auditorium, Winona Lake, following the theme “Bridges.” Dorie Van Stone, Tennessee, will deliver “Bridge to Freedom and Service” and Barbara Beecher, Carmel, will present “Bridge to Growth.” Sharon Brumbaugh and Robin Howard, Fort Wayne, will present special music. Deet Erlich, a former World War II prisoner and resistance worker who crossed paths with Corrie ten Boom, will share her testimony. Workshops offered are “Weigh to Win” by Lynn Hill, Plymouth, and “Birth Order” by Ethel Anderson, Warsaw, and daughters Liz and Nancy.

Mrs. Robert Hartzell, Etna Green, entertained several members of her high school class. Each guest brought pictures of her children which were passed around as a game. A name of one of her teachers was pinned on each contestant and clues given to help guess the identity of the teacher. Guests were Sue Hatfield, Frances Carter Berkey, Shirley Borden Everest, Mary Minear Hartle, Anne Berkeypile, Pat Clark Dixon, Janet Hall Trowbridge, Dolores Cook Bechtol, Wanda Hall Shively and Anita Young Eckert.
David Dinius, Bourbon, was awarded the Borden Scholarship, recognizing outstandings scholars in the School of Agriculture, for the second semester of this year. He has been a distinguished student for each of his six semesters.

Furnitureman Max Drefkoff of Warsaw’s Dundee factory is in Chicago attending the annual furniture show at Merchandise Mart where for 10 days starting this Monday furniture manufacturers and dealers throughout the middle west will exhibit their wares and place orders. Dundee was employing some 40 workmen up until Christmas, and at peak had employees up around 100.
Russell Knepp, manager of the Knepp Kennels east of Warsaw, reports that an Old English sheep dog has been sold to Paul Gerber, Gerber & Glass, Chicago, and the dog will be presented to actress Jane Withers when she makes a personal appearance in Chicago next Sunday. She will take the dog back to Hollywood.[[In-content Ad]]
