10 Years
Katy Cobb made a New Year's resolution to raise $300 for hurricane victims. In six weeks, she made more than double that amount by selling refreshments at the concession stand during the last three Washington basketball games. In total, she donated $643 to the Red Cross.
25 Years
On Feb. 21, Charles Turner, president of the Warsaw Kiwanis Club, announced the kickoff of the club's annual rose sale. This year's committee is Steve Bollinger, Bob Dillon, Jerry Irvine, Jeanne Rondot, Ned Titus and Isaac Mensah, chairman. The Lakeland and Triton Kiwanis Clubs are offering the same quality roses in red, pink and yellow.
50 Years
Mike Baker and Phil Boley received Eagle Scout Awards at the Winona Lake Boy Scout Troop 15 court of honor last week, presented by Scoutmaster Neil Bennett. Receiving Life Scout Awards: Jerry and Charles Hogan, Larry and Gary Baker, Jim Spigutz and Walter Runyan. Troop chairman is Max Baker.
Candace L. LaRue, senior at North Webster High School, was chosen by her senior class as Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow for 1966. Silver Lake High School's choice was Jo Ann Wise, qualifying them for state and national scholarships.
Sharon Mauzy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thames Mauzy, Warsaw, will represent Kosciusko County in competition for the title of Indiana's Sesquicentennial Queen Feb. 25, 26 and 27 in Indianapolis. John Kleeman is chairman of the Commission.75 Years
The county clerk has issued a marriage license to Max H. Mollenhour, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Kenneth Mollenhour, of Warsaw, and Mary Helen Brown, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merl Brown, of Warsaw.
When the present postoffice building was erected, insect screens were not included in the specifications, and for 10 years the staff has worked without that protection. Postmaster Roy E.K. Bowen announced Thursday, Jan. 30, that insect screens have been installed at all outside windows and inside lobby swinging doors. A mailing platform guard has been installed protecting the mail truck from rolling off to the concrete three feet below. [[In-content Ad]]
