Work at Camp Good News, off Backwater Road, North Webster, continues with a new director, Dean Hunsucker, and a new purpose. Good News Ministries, based in Indianapolis, purchased the 42-acre campground four years ago to provide a free camp to disadvantaged children from Kosciusko and neighboring counties during the summer. During the off-season, a rehabilitation camp provides a place for homeless men to find work. They make improvements to the camp while working to improve themselves. The current project is to replace 120 beds, 12 in each of the 10 cabins, with wooden frames. The old bunks are constructed of canvas tied to a pipe frame, suspended by chains from the ceilings and walls.

The Rev. Lee Lantz, 812 West Canal St., is retiring from teaching a Bible class at the Winona Lake First Presbyterian Church after 20 years. The Rev. Richard W. Anderson, pastor, says of Lantz, 91, “He is one of the finest Bible teachers in the country.” Mrs. P.D. Parks, Mrs. Walter McCory and Mrs. Ed Boyer, members of his class, all say they have learned much from him. He and his wife had been coming to Winona Lake Bible conferences every summer for about 65 years. After ministering in a Chicago church for 10 years, they moved to Winona Lake. For several years, he taught the Bible in Warsaw and Winona Lake elementary schools, and he still receives letters from his former pupils.
