    Michael Cooksie, Sunset Drive, Warsaw, a student at Manchester College, served on the Disarmament and International Security Committee during the recent Harvard national Model United Nations.

Cooksie was one of 18 Manchester College students who represented Nicaragua in various U.N. committees. His committee discussed the concerns surrounding the removal of land mines and the procedures for dealing with international hostage situations.

    Starting Warsaw Community High School basketball guards Tod Ritchison and Jeff Grose were yanked away from the school Friday afternoon by "gangsters" Nellie Anglin and Pam Mitchell, activities director at Prairie View Nursing Home. It was all a part of a "kidnapping" by nursing home residents to raise money for the Kosciusko County Heart Fund. The two were not released until just before the start of Friday's game, but combined to score 20 points in a 70-55 win over Triton. The abduction raised more than $250.

    A two-way race for the Republican nomination for the county recorder's office was assured today with the officially announced candidacy of 40-year-old Mrs. Clinton (Maxine) Whitley, who resides south of Warsaw. Her announcement followed closely on the heels of that of Robert Jones, of Mentone, who yesterday stated he would be a candidate for the $7,800 per-year-post.

    Harold Smith, of Warsaw, operator of radio phone station W9JSQ, in this city on Sunday night contacted his station with that of Andy Sannella, famous orchestra leader of New York City and son-in-law of Mrs. Nell McConnell, of Warsaw. For two hours Mrs. McConnell and her daughter, Mrs. Ilene Sannella, talked with complete satisfaction over the amateur stations visiting as intimately as if in the same room excepting the ability to see each other.
