Carolyn Johnson, Yellow Creek Lake, spotted 25 to 30 robins in berry trees at her home. Some of the birds had frost on their bodies in the cold weather.
Gonzalo Garay, Warsaw, turned 101 Jan. 10. He was born in Concepcion Del Oro, Zacatecas, Mexico.
Jack Moore replaced Roger Fisher as Sprint’s public affairs manager for the Warsaw district. Fisher had announced in December that he would be leaving the company after 30 years of service. Moore has been with Sprint since 1977, working in various capacities.
Paragon Medical recognizes: Becky Brubaker, Ruby May, Jody Lasue, Amy Smith, Willard Juillerat, Scott Burish, Todd Haines, Randy Sible, Bob Supple and Pam Vanderlinden.

Mentone volunteer firefighter and 7-year-veteran Ed Rock received the Fireman of the Year award from Chief Joe Good. Warsaw volunteer Mike Monesmith received the award from Capt. Max Huffer. Mike Baker will replace Huffer as captain in 1990.
Postmaster Robert Douglas honored retiring employee Russell Lichtenwalter, Warsaw, after 29 years of service with the U.S. Postal Service. He said he plans to spend more time bowling and golfing.
Porter Wagoner, one of Nashville’s biggest names, will perform May 19 at Rodeheaver Auditorium, sponsored by the local Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 149.
Warsaw senior Brian Elliott scored 18 of his 27 points during the second half to help the Tigers beat Gary Lew Wallace 85-72. Aaron Bair scored 10 points.

Ronald Sharp, Times-Union city editor, has been promoted to the dual post of circulation director and news bureau chief, it was announced by Curtis Garber, editor. Jack Knisely, present circulation manager, will continue in that capacity, in charge of press room distribution. The paper has three news bureaus and managers: Syracuse, Jean Insley; Mentone, Mrs. Earl Shinn and Mrs. Gerald Romine; Pierceton, Mrs. Dale Bennett. Three areas of circulation department: Sharp, south of U.S. 30; Leon Vance, Syracuse, activities north of Warsaw; Knisely, Warsaw and Wayne Township. Sharp came to the circulation department in 1946 and transferred to the news room in the early 1950s before becoming city editor. He is a 1939 graduate of Syracuse High School, attending Goshen and Grace colleges. Mrs. Joan Sharp is a librarian at the North Webster and Leesburg schools; sons are Dan and Steve.

Night nurse at the McDonald Hospital, Veda Davis, is reading the book “Harriet and the Piper” during time-out intervals between bell buzzes.
Mrs. Chester H. Glant, East Fort Wayne Street, exhibited her fine needlework in New York City this week in conjunction with the third national crochet contest.
“Mush” Warner, Times sports editor, filed charges of theft with Prosecutor Jacob Koontz Thursday morning in which Warner accuses Zeb Hughes of the theft of 15 cents from his desk in the office Nov 11.
Sears Roebuck has a new, complete line of 55, 79 and 98 cents ladies’ Royal Purple silk hose. Latest shades, full-fashioned, ring-free and water-spot proof. Also, assorted Christmas cards on sale, 5 cents and up.
