A new addition at Grace Village, containing 26 residential care units, was dedicated and officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Nov. 13. Jeff Carroll, CEO, spoke of the mission statement. Troyer Group was recognized as the architects and Robinson Construction, the builder.
Warsaw’s Armory Support Team 114, 3rd Battalion, 1st Brigade of the Indiana Guard Reserve was selected for the Superior Unit Award. This is given each year to the team that best demonstrates mission readiness, volunteering for community service, manpower growth and mission participation.

The Winona Lake Historical Society has put together a special 1989 Winona Lake calendar printed by Bartel and BMH Printing. Each month a different scene or building from the past is pictured along with dates and trivia important to the history of Winona. Cost is $3.
Cathy Suchecki and Kim Kessler are co-chairmen of Tri-Kappa’s Santa Village at First United Methodist Church. The village provides an opportunity for children to visit Santa and Mrs. Claus, make their own Christmas card and do their own shopping in the secret buying room.

Mrs. Lionel Kreger Jr., Pierceton, was the winner in the pumpkin contest sponsored by Plew’s Department Store, Pierceton, by guessing the number of seeds in the pumpkin. She was presented with a season’s ticket to the Pierceton Cubs basketball games.
Michael Storms, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. Gene Storms, and a 1963 graduate and valedictorian of Syracuse High School, was elected president of the freshman class of Whittenberg University, Ohio, where he will be majoring in a pre-medical course.
Warsaw’s Tigers, who last week completed their season with an outstanding eight-won, two-lost record, received votes in the Associated Press poll of sports writers.

Tommy Noggle tells about the time he saw Cal Warner, one of Sidney’s best baseball players, catch a baseball game barehanded and without a mask. This was in the days before curve ball pitchers came into being and speed was a pitcher’s stock in trade. He caught two entire seasons against all kinds of opposition. Jack Walters was Warsaw’s old-time shortstop while Frank Bair, now around four score years, was the first pitcher to introduce the roundhouse curve ball in Warsaw 60 years ago or more.
Post graduate Harold Stokes is off to Indianapolis to get permission from the Indiana Basketball Association to play this year with the Warsaw Tigers.[[In-content Ad]]

Divide And Conquer
Editor, Times-Union: It is glaringly obvious to anyone with functioning brain cells that today’s MAGA (formerly known as the Grand Old Party) has only one strategy to win the 2024 election: divide and conquer and pull the wool over the voting public’s eyes. Their playbook consists of misinformation, distortion of facts, projections, conspiracy theories and plain old bald-faced lies. If they cannot find damning evidence of lawlessness or evil deeds in their opponents’ resumes, they just make something up: Kamala’s intelligence or race, Tim’s real pet dog or his mysterious connection to China; Biden’s unwillingness to help America’s catastrophe victims.
