With 6:05 left in the fourth quarter Saturday, the Tigers trailed host Elkhart Central 47-32, and then the 6-foot-2 Michael Wienhorst took over the game, scoring 12 of his game-high 26 points in the final five minutes and leading Warsaw to a thrilling 52-49 win. He also converted 15 of 17 free throws and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. Junior Mitchell Reinholt came off the bench and was perfect from the field, scoring 10 points and pulling down seven rebounds.
After 27 years of volunteering for the Pierceton EMS, Georgia Tenney is retiring. She was instrumental in securing the first ambulance for Pierceton and Washington and Monroe Townships, being named Kosciusko County’s 2004 EMT of the year. She has been middle school secretary for the Whitko School Corp. for 26 years.

Dalton Foundries 25-Year Club: Dayton Manns, Andrew J. Baldridge, Judy E. Creekmore, Keith Bays and Earl Baldridge Jr. Ken Davidson, president, presented each new member with a plaque and watch. Other employees celebrating service anniversaries: Virgil Owens, Paul Bradford, Wheeler Shepherd, William May, Morris Poole, Miley Ousley, Dean Blanton, Hascue Collins and Cecil Salyer, 30 years; Norman Summy and Glen Oler, 35 years; Bob Robinson, 40 years. Club officers elected for 1990: Ed Krebs, president; Ron Hoppas, vice president; Catherine Poole, secretary.
Third-grade students at Washington Elementary School have been corresponding with pen pals at Miller’s Merry Manor, who visited Washington this week. Students performed a play entitled “Planet Parade” and served punch and cookies.

Warsaw Lions Club president Warren Hygema presented the distinguished service award to Sheriff Howard “Sam” Holbrook. He is now serving his second term as Kosciusko County sheriff, taking office in 1959. Holbrook was named Sheriff of the Year in 1963 by the Indiana State Sheriff Association.
James P. Keeton, Mrs. Roger H. Davis, Arthur Griswold and Leone Walton were presented TV sets by Roland Mayes Sr., manager of Judd’s Drug Store on East Center Street, during their recent open house.
Ray Archer of Pierceton joined Marshal Peter Yorg on the Pierceton marshal staff. Archer is married to the former Carol Leiter and has one son, Gary, a senior at Pierceton High School.

Those Osborn boys from Newcastle flying monoplane through rain low over Warsaw today are sons of native Warsawan Bill Osborn, successful Newcastle plumbing and heating contractor, and grandson of Mrs. Simon Osborn, East Market Street. The famous Alaskan pioneering aviator, Joe Crosson, and his sister, Mervel, are cousins of the flying Osborns who gave us such a thrill today.
Jack Lane and Highwayman Ed Ragan bagged two cock pheasants today as the season opened. Doc Gasaway says he kicked up eight, shot at three, got none.
