Students in Dianne Pearson’s first-grade class at Akron Elementary School visited Viking Foods, their partner in education for the 2004-05 school year. David Randall provided the tour of the facility and the visit concluded in the bakery, where students frosted their own cookies.
Mrs. Airgood’s third-grade class at Warsaw Christian School celebrated team spirit day by wearing uniforms or sweatshirts of their favorite teams.
High school senior Emily Ahlersmeyer was selected for membership in The National Society of High School Scholars, among the top in the nation.

When “The Gift of the Magi” opens at the Wagon Wheel Theatre Dec. 8, the audience will recognize the two faces that comprise the Christmas story. Katherine Newlon, New York City, and Scott Mikita, Chicago, have returned for this two-person show. Theatre director Steve Grill chose the show “because of its deep meanings that all can appreciate.”
Yogi, Cindy and BooBoo bears entertained Claypool Elementary School students to kick off BEAR (Be Enthusiastic About Reading) Week.
Grace College Art Gallery in Colonial Hall is open for browsing. The black and white photo exhibit is called “Images of our American Southwest.”
Arlyn “Art” Reinhard, Whitko High School principal, has been selected to serve a two-year term on the Fourth District Congressional Advisory Committee on Education.

Warsaw Community Schools Business Manager Frank Sanders Jr. congratulated football coach Bill Goshert following last night’s win over Peru 40-20 for its 10th victory this season, its fourth undefeated team in the school’s history. Sanders was the coach when the Tigers had their last campaign in 1952, taking over from George Fisher.
Lawrence Castaldi, president of Warsaw Junior Achievement, presented a national JA plaque to C. Reuben Williams, general manager of The Times-Union and radio station WRSW, the company which sponsored WRSW-JA. Warsaw became the smallest town in the United States to ever win special recognition at the national level.

Milk was stolen Thursday morning from porches on Hickory and East Main streets, according to reports made to the Warsaw police.
Apparel of Warsaw men this season will rival the plummage of a tropical bird, but the general effect will be pleasant and not gaudy, local retailers said. Browns will be especially good, giving last year’s greens a run for their money. Wider hat brims, tie and collar bars, watch chains, cufflinks and other knicknacks will be massive. Gold jewelry will be more popular than ever. Fingertip length surcoats and jackets are to be wintertime duty this year. Socks, neckties and handkerchiefs reflect the trend toward more color. Even the pajamas are tailored to fit for sleeping comfort, and they fit well enough to work about the house without embarrassment.
