After 25 years of police work, Kosciusko County Sgt. Michael Hobbs retired on Nov. 24. He served 20 years with the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, starting as a jailer in June 1979 and becoming a road officer in January 1980. Prior to that, he served five years as Leesburg town marshal.

The monthly meeting of the Warsaw Jr. Homemakers Club was held at the home of Iva Carpenter in Melody Acres. The club president, Ione Cameron, opened the meeting with 19 members and one guest present. The song of the month, "Over the River and Through the Woods," was given in unison.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bentz, South Whitley, recently entertained Mr. and Mrs. Royal Pottenger, of Warsaw. It was the first reunion for the women since they were classmates at Packerton grade school. Mrs. Bentz then was Elizabeth Mathews and Mrs. Pottenger was Elba Hinkson.

Grocery prices at Jet White Stores were: Fillet Mignon at 20 cents per pound; Lamb Chops 20 cents per pound.; Swiss Steak 12-1/2 cents per pound; Bananas 5 pounds for 25 cents; Sugar 10-pound bag 50 cents; Flour (Pillsbury's & Gold Medal) 24-pound sack $1.09; and Coffee (DelMonte), vac. packed 29 cents per pound.
