Final plans for a new Kohl’s store north of Warsaw will go before the plan commission. If approved, Kohl’s plans to build a 68,750-square-foot facility on the property at the corner of Ind. 15N and CR 300N, just north of the Walmart and Lowes shopping area.
Tippecanoe Valley High School senior Kara Kramer, daughter of Dan and Bonnie Kramer, signed a letter of intent to continue her education and basketball career at Eastern Illinois University. Valley head coach is Gary Teel, assistants are Alissa Trippiedi and Roger Moriarty.
Walt Hardesty bowled a 300-game at Warsaw Bowl during the Munro Muffler League. Munro manager Randy Odell presented him a bonus check.

First Presbyterian Church youth will present the musical “Wise Guys and Starry Skies” Dec. 17. The three Wise Men are Kip Kline, Jerry Richardson and Darrin Skinner; wise guys are Jody Dill, Bryan Goodpastor, Mandy Hepler, Brandon Schmitt and Stacy Srejma. Other cast members: Abe Hepler, Martha Smith, Max Fulwider, Chris Carman, Steve Hawblitzel, Ben Hepler, Leanna Rudisel, Suzanne Ryan, Heidi Smith, Lindsey Srejma and Nicki Wilka. Co-directors are Bryan Bartow and Darlene Skinner.
The children of Redeemer Lutheran Church and School, 1720 E. Center St., Warsaw, will present “To You is Born” Sunday. Alicia Prater is Mary; Oren Wagner is Joseph.
Senior Sean Yates, son of Lynn and Sally Yates, won the American Legion oratorical contest held at Warsaw Community High School and will represent WCHS at the district competition in January. Becky White is teacher.

A new type of drive-in restaurant has been opened by Penguin Point Franchise Systems, Warsaw. The unique design of the building on North Detroit Street features a combination of walk-in and drive-through service, according to co-owner-manager John Wade. On the menu is another innovation – Penguin Point chicken.
Jim Weirick, Warsaw, bagged a 250-pound buck the first day of the local deer season Thanksgiving. Beecher Howard, Bourbon, and Francis Rickel, near Mentone, felled bucks over 200 pounds. Bob Funnell, Chapman Lake, and Bill Marshall, Marshall County, hunted in Steuben County. Ned Gerard is conservation officer.

Daily Times – Police Bass Fishing Contest: Must be caught during legal season. Only artificial bait can be used and no nets. Contest begins immediately and ends Nov. 1, 1940. Officials are Daily Times night editor Bob McGlynn and Mayor John Hansman. Policeman team: Chief Raymond Neff, officers Homer Rice, Judd Pittenger and Robert Hay.
