To prevent as much of a financial shortfall as possible, the Kosciusko County Council approved the deletion of all “400” accounts from each department’s budget. The 400 accounts include furniture, filing cabinets, vehicles and similar items. The county commissioners’ 400 account was deleted, but if any department needed any emergency item, that department can request it from the commissioners.

NLC Champs – Winning individual events recently at the Northern Lakes Conference meet at Warsaw were: Concord’s Chris Wirt (diving), Warsaw’s Ivy Reed (200 individual medley), Warsaw’s Kara Hoskins (200 and 500 freestyle), Wawasee’s Cyndi Guimond (100 breaststroke), Warsaw’s Katie McCaffrey (50 and 100 free) and Cindy Keough (100 butterfly and 100 backstroke).

Approximately 100 Warsaw and Winona Lake women attended the World Community Day program recently at the Salvation Army Citadel, which was sponsored by the United Church Women of Warsaw and Winona Lake. Ninety-two sewing bags filled with sewing notions, 35 sarongs, blouses, shirts and yard goods, which were made by the local organization, will be sent to women in Southeast Asia.

Fifty men, including members of the Spring Creek Church, neighbors and friends gathered at the Calvin Warner home, north of Sidney, and shucked about 20 acres of corn, Thursday, Nov. 4. Warner is in the emergency hospital and will be there for a few weeks yet. They cribbed 1,200 to 1,500 hundred bushels of corn and finished at noon.
