    The Warsaw Girls Cross Country team ran its best race of the season at Saturday's Manchester Semistate. It was good enough to earn them a spot at the state finals, which is a first for the Warsaw girls cross country program.

Members of the team were Hillary Barlow, Rachel Rondeau, Summer Boyd, Amy Robertson, Melonie Albert and Cassie Noble. Paul Sibray was team coach.

    Warsaw's Sean Rhodes finished eighth at the semistate last Saturday in Fort Wayne. He will be Warsaw's lone participant in Saturday's state cross country finals in Indianapolis.

    The New York Central Railroad has petitioned the Indiana Public Service Commission for authority to close its agency at Claypool. The Big Four runs north and south through the town.

The NYC, which has operated through Claypool for about 80 years, states in its petition that the cost of maintaining the agency is burdensome and that the town could be served from the Warsaw station just seven miles away.

    Approximately 200 costumed persons took part in the community Halloween Wednesday night, sponsored by the Warsaw American Legion, the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis and Rotary clubs.
