In the cow-milking showdown, Manchester High School football coach Al Bailey earned the cow-milking championship. He squeezed three cups of milk in one minute. He was in competition against the high school’s three other coaches: track coach Julie Cassel, baseball coach Sam Rohr and basketball coach Mark Underwood. Kelci Martin won the “Guess the Pig’s Weight” Contest at 220 pounds. This was all a part of the Harvest Festival.

The masked comic of Warsaw, Joe Conlon, of Warsaw, awoke Sunday bursting with excitement. Since it was his 40th birthday, his wife, Joyce, instructed him to stay in bed where he would be served breakfast. However, as Joe sat in bed, Joyce screamed out that the pipes in the basement had burst. The Warsaw Freshman School teacher jumped out of bed, ran to the basement and found 18 relatives, some he had not seen for 12 years. They came from as far away as California, Arizona and Florida to surprise the owner of Ape Over You business.

This recipe for Chicken Casserole was published in the Woman’s Exchange column.
Saute disjointed chicken in butter until browned on all sides. Transfer to a casserole and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Meanwhile, partially dilute a can of cream of chicken, celery or mushroom soup with milk. Pour over chicken and bake covered at 350 degrees for about one hour. During the last 20 minutes of cooking, add a can of sliced mushrooms to the creamy chicken.

Mr. and Mrs. I.C. Van Dyke recently returned to their home in Winona Lake after enjoying a week’s motor trip to New York City where they met their son, Stuart, and his bride, at the boat upon their arrival home from Europe. Mr. and Mrs. I.C. Van Dyke accompanied the newlyweds to Syracuse, N.Y., where Stuart Van Dyke has accepted an assistant professorship at Syracuse University.
