NorthWood High School presents "All I Really Need to Know, I Learned in Kindergarten" Friday and Saturday nights, Oct. 28 and 29. Lead actors and actresses: Matt and Taylor Christianson, Joslynn Focht, Greg Miller, Courtney Sheets, Rachel Stull, Stephanie Stahley, Katherine Ulkin, Keith Ramer, Luke Fattorusso, Blake Shearer, Tori Miller  and Haley Jane Yoder.

    Amy Durgin, a senior at Warsaw Community High School, was named to the Indiana Soccer Coaches All-District Team for the second consecutive year. A four-year starter at WCHS, she has also been named All-Conference in the Northern Lakes Conference for the fourth year in a row.


25 Years
In just his first full season of racing on the circuit, Warsaw's Terry Shepherd, 33, won the title of 1990 All-Star Circuit Champion. Shepherd and the (Jeff) Stoops Racing Team participated in 70 races in 12 different states before earning the title. He holds the record at five different tracks, has had 45 career wins and was the United States Auto Club Sprint Rookie of the Year in 1985. He ended the season ranked as the 22nd best driver in the country. Local mechanics Randy Jackson and Dean Bayne worked on his car, along with Phil Poor of Anderson. "You have to have a great crew in order to be successful." Shepherd and his wife have a 15-month-old son, Neil, and are expecting their second child. His parents, Curt and Katherine, also reside in Warsaw.

50 Years

An essential member of the Dalton Team is 40-year veteran, Idyl Hoffer, having the important job of sample molder. He and his wife, Helen, reside at East Market St. in Warsaw. Idyl plans to retire in two years.

    Jerry Foreman, South Whitley, and his cousin, James Foreman, Route 1, Warsaw, captured the Class A gasoline drag championship at the U.S. 30 Dragstrip near Gary recently. The vehicle was clocked at 117 miles per hour in a quarter of a mile.

    Jerry Ziegler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gale Ziegler, South Whitley, is a Peace Corps volunteer working on a poultry development project in Hyderabad, India. Jerry was raised on a farm, and has considerable experience working with poultry and cattle.

75 Years
Members of the Indiana Junior Enterprise, a youngster's industrial and shop organization founded by Warsaw's Henry Seifert, manager of the W.R. Thomas store here, completed their latest job for the Warsaw Kiwanis Club, building highway signs: Bernard Minear, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rulo Minear; Robert Brennan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brennan; Ardis, Eugene and Dorothy Seifert. They drew the plans, designed and built them according to their own specifications out of wood at the Seifert home, North Buffalo Street. More than 300 letters were cut from wood and weather-proofed. The Kiwanis Club meets Thursday, Oct. 10, at the Hotel Hays.[[In-content Ad]]
