Kosciusko Community YMCA will have a fall party with its monthly Kids Night Out event Friday, Oct. 21, from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. Saturday. Activities include pumpkin painting, games, crafts, swimming, rock climbing, movies and pizza.

    Three locals have completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Seth D. Geiser, Kyle R. Collins and Bridget A. Snead completed a variety of training during the eight-week program.

    The Harrison Huskies donated to the Red Cross for Hurricane Relief. Jennifer Crim and some friends sold cookies in her neighborhood to help.

25 Years

Phillip Calvert, corporate pilot for Dalton Foundries in the late 1960s and manager of Warsaw Airport for Skystream from 1968 to 1977, is living in Riyadh, capitol of Saudi Arabia. He works for the armed forces medical evacuation services as pilot of a flying ambulance.

    Warsaw senior running back Kermit Imler had another big night as he rushed for 131 yards on 16 carries Friday night, Oct. 5, against NorthWood. He also scored the game's only touchdown. When Darrin Skinner booted a 33-yard field goal on the last play of the game, it gave the Tigers a 10-9 victory over the Panthers.

50 Years

Plans were approved by the City Zoning Board Thursday night, Sept. 23, for a dental office building to be located on South Union St., across from the medical building occupied by Dr. Robert Dormire, Dr. William Cron and Dr. John Arford. Attorney James Snodgrass says the building will be occupied by Dr. Charles Hollar, now a captain in the U.S. Army, who will begin his practice in Warsaw upon his release in a year.

    Ace Hardware will move into a new 14,500 square-foot building at the corner of East Center and Colfax streets, becoming the first business in the new "East Center Plaza" shopping center. When the center is completed, there will be several businesses, all built to join the present Judd Drug Store and the Kroger Store.

75 Years

Ed (Speck) Ettinger, veteran fisherman and Warsaw's only old-time harness-maker, celebrates his 80th birthday anniversary Monday, September 30.

    Warsaw cheer-leading squad gets a workout at the Warsaw-Valpo game played here Friday night, Sept. 27: new addition Betty Lou Overmyer, daughter of auto dealer Gerald and the Mrs., Warsaw, and her two colleagues, veterans George (Pork) Hatfield and Don (Red) Butler.

    The Warsaw-Valpo game was the first time in over 15 years that Roy (Speedy) Ruse, excavating engineer, has missed a Warsaw High School football or basketball game. He was detained by business at home.

Lehman Receives 8-Year Sentence For Conspiracy To Commit Murder
ALBION - For his involvement in the murder of Laurel Jean Mitchell in 1975, John W. Lehman, 69, Auburn, was sentenced Friday to eight years in the Indiana Department of Corrections on the charge of conspiracy to commit murder, a Class A felony.
