    Doug Buller, a teacher at Warsaw Christian School, recently accepted the 1998 Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year Award for excellence in teaching.

In appreciation of Buller's dedication, Wal-Mart presented a $500 grant to Warsaw Christian School and a special Wal-Mart vest to Buller.

    Warsaw postal workers gathered recently to honor retiring employees. Sylvan Stump, Pierceton, retired two months ago after 20 years in the postal service; Virginia Pletcher, Pierceton, retired after nine years as a rural motor route carrier; John R. Craig, Warsaw, retired with a 25-year postal service record; and retiring city postman, Ed Kinney, who worked in the postal service for 28 years.

    Members of the Syracuse High School baseball team who captured the county baseball title by defeating Sidney 3-2 are: Richard Bitner, Jim Mock, Jerry Rinker, Tom Firestone, John Thornburg, Larry Line, Roger Fleischauer, Don Scarbeary, Fred Godshalk, John Lantz, Francis Denton, Charles Crow, Ron Kreamer, Norman Druckamiller, Harry Alfrey, Charles Folger, Bob LeCount, Larry Laird, Tom Miller, Gary Kline and Carl Alfrey. Their coach is Dick Beck, assistant coach, Eldon Ummel and manager, Reggie William.
