Sweet Singing - Congratulations to the Kosciusko County Purdue Extension Chorus. The group turned in an excellent performance at Purdue recently. So good, in fact, they were invited to perform at Loehs Theater in Lafayette. The group also placed fourth overall recently in state competition. Also at state, the group finished first in sacred music for their rendition of "On Holy Ground." The singers - 20 strong - are conducted by Edgewood Elementary School music teacher Dan Beam, Warsaw, who has been part of the group for 21 years.

The third annual Miller's Merry Manor Health Care Professions Scholarships were presented at the recent awards ceremony held at Warsaw Community High School. Two $250 scholarships were presented to Kelly Poyser and Suzanne Holbrook by Bruce Mehlhop, administrator of the Miller's facility in Warsaw.
Miss Poyser is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry L. Poyser of Warsaw. Miss Holbrook is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Holbrook of Winona Lake.

On Sunday, July 16, between the hours of 1 and 6 p.m., the Warsaw Rocket Club, composed of four local high school students, will launch a solid fuel rocket three miles due east of Warsaw. David Whitesell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Whitesell, the president of the club, announced that the Aeronautics Commission of Indiana had sanctioned the test. The commission requires 30 days public notice prior to the firing of the rocket which is expected to reach an altitude of 1,000 feet.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stewart departed for Allentown, Pa., where they will spend several days as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Boggs. They will attend the TFA convention there. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart also expect to visit in Brooklyn and attend the Democratic convention at Philadelphia. Following the Democratic convention, they will visit Washington, D.C., and other eastern scenic points.[[In-content Ad]]
