Just because he’s retiring doesn’t mean Dr. Anthony Etienne will stop working. He has plans. Currently serving as assistant superintendent for Warsaw Community Schools, Etienne said that after retiring July 4 he would like to teach a college course on school administration, do some curriculum auditing or maybe work with the Northwest Evaluation Association on helping school districts set up testing procedures.
Just your normal, run-of-the-mill retirement “hobbies.” Considering the fact that he has spent his entire professional life in the educational field, however, his choice of retirement activities is not that surprising. “I’ve been very well blessed,” he said.

Warsaw Schools Director of Curriculum Judy Mugg presents a trophy to the Lincoln third-grade team, which won that grade portion of the Brain Game. The Brain Game is a contest similar to Trivia Pursuit, with questions based on subjects boys and girls would have studied in school. The Lincoln third-grade team is comprised of Curtis Hatfield, John McCammon, Andrew Mock and Nathan Huffer.

Katy Kaufman, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ethan Kaufman, won the Rotary speech finals at Gary recently with an oration of the electoral college. Her reward was a check and gold medal. Katy won preliminary contests in Warsaw, Syracuse and Elkhart to triumph over entries sponsored by 40 other Rotary clubs. Frank Harrison, of the Warsaw club, accompanied Katy to Gary.

More than 300 prominent chicken raisers – including some of the largest growers in Indiana and neighboring states – are attending the Mentone Egg Show at Mentone being held this week.
Kosciusko County is the second largest egg and poultry producing county in the entire United States, leading poultrymen stated. The first place is held by a California county, which presumably has a more even climate for poultry raising.
