This year’s Kosciusko County Relay For Life is May 19-20 at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds, 1400 E. Smith St., Warsaw.
“Walkers will go around the clock in the battle against cancer when the 29th annual American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life gets underway with teams of residents gathering at the fairgrounds,” according to Jimmy Bouterse, Relay For Life sponsorship chair.
The relay starts at 3 p.m. May 19 and ends May 20 at 9 a.m.
“The overnight event is family friendly and unites the entire community in celebrating those who have had cancer, remembering loved ones lost and providing an opportunity to fight back against the disease,” Bouterse said. “Relay For Life supports the society’s mission to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays.”
Relay’s registration is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for all those who are battling cancer, their caregivers and survivors.
All items for the silent auction must be registered by 4 p.m., and the results of the auction will be announced at 9:30 p.m.
The survivor’s lunch will be from noon to 2:30 p.m. by invitation only. The Cancer Survivor Celebration kicks off at 3 p.m. with a Cancer Victory Lap to take place after the opening ceremony.
There will be a children’s hour at 5 p.m. with clowns and a magic show featuring Jerry Armstrong.
Live music will feature Breakdown and Warsaw’s Ivory West.
Lake City Radio-Willie 103.5 FM will be hosted by DJ Chris Cage. A fight back ceremony will begin at 7 p.m.
The luminary ceremony begins at 10 p.m. to honor and remember everyone touched by the disease.
There will be a pizza party at midnight for the committee and team captains. There will be games played throughout the relay event. There will be a scavenger hunt, tug-of-war and frozen T-shirt contest.
