Anna Reffitt and Karen Garrard, both of Warsaw, were honored during the Our Lady of Kosciusko event in the activity tent on the fairgrounds Thursday.
The ceremony is for county women older than 65.
Reffitt was nominated by her granddaughter, Trina Springer.
Garrard was nominated by her neighbor, Jennifer Griffith.
Reffitt has devoted her life to her family, Springer's letter says. She and her husband Floyd celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in September.
They are parents of five children: Danny, the late Diann, Sue, Cathy and Floyd Jr.
"Anna always has a positive outlook on her life," said the letter read by 2006 Fair Queen Krystalle Johnson. "She is a role model to many. She has had hard times in her life that she has gone through, but she never lets the bad or hard times outweigh the happy times that we have together."
Garrard is a retired school teacher and a former teacher's assistant. She was instrumental in having a swimming pool installed at Warsaw Community High School. According to Griffith's letter, the 70-year-old still swims to the middle of Pike Lake and back nearly every day and goes to the YMCA pool during the winter.
She also led a pornography-awareness drive in the early 1980s.
Friends say she extends a helping hand to others in need. She is a member of the Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church and has two children and many grandchildren. [[In-content Ad]]
