SYRACUSE – Reese A. Small, 73, Ligonier, formerly of Syracuse, died at 2:22 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2011 at Avalon Village Nursing Home in Ligonier.
He was born Dec. 1, 1937, in Lancaster, S.C., to Robert Andrew & Bessie Glendora (Price) Small.
He was married Nov. 18, 1959 in Las Vegas to Leora I. Williams who died May 2, 2001.
He grew up in Lancaster, S.C. and attended Lancaster Public Schools. He served in the United States Navy. He moved to Syracuse in 1968 from California and retired in 1999 from Silgan Plastics Corporation in Ligonier after 33 years of service.
He was a member of the Glass Molders, Pottery, Plastics & Allied Workers International Union Local #229 and American Legion Post 223 in Syracuse. He formerly attended the Shiloh Baptist Church in Ligonier and the Church of God in Syracuse.
Surviving are three daughters; Tami (and spouse Tad) Freed, Syracuse; Teri (and spouse Woodrow) Wagoner,  Oxford, N.J.; and Sharol Hershberger, Ligonier; a-half sister, Mildred Alice Starns, Rockhill, S.C.; seven granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers; Robert David Small and Carl Dexter Small; a half-sister, Lula Whitaker; and three half-brothers, Perry Luther Small, Moody Farris Small, and George Rufus Deese
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Jimmy Shepherd of Shiloh Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.
