BOURBON - On a crisp fall evening, Triton honored its seniors as the Trojans played host to the Knox Redskins in a Northern State Conference conference football game.

Despite losing some key players to breaking-and entering-charges, and losing quarterback Cody Binkley early in the game, Knox held on for a 7-6 win.[[In-content Ad]]Triton dominated the Redskins offensively early in the game. Led by Adam Creighbaum, who rushed 16 times for 118 yards and threw for 61 more, the Trojans outgained the Redskins 254-95.

Triton marched on two seperate drives deep into Knox territory. Both drives ended on fourth-down and short situations. The Redskins' defense kept the Trojans out of the endzone both times.

"We marched down the field pretty good," said Triton coach Rodney Younis. "We had short and inches and we just couldn't convert."

The woes continued for Triton in the second quarter. The Trojans continued to run down the Redskins defense deep into their territory. Triton reached inside the 25 each time and was held on fourth and short. The half ended in a scoreless tie.

"We have to get hungry," said Younis. "We have to act like we want it and get aggressive. It is something we will have to work on."

After receiving the second half kickoff it appeared as if Triton would march down the field with ease. The Trojans ate up seven plus minutes to reach the Knox 23.

Creighbaum attempted a pass to Zac Moriarity, but Devin Garbison stepped in front of Moriarity and intecepeted the ball at the 15. Garbison then ran down the right sideline untouched for an 85-yard touchdown. Steven Graman's extra-point kick was good for a 7-0 Knox lead at the end of the third quarter.

"Adam just didn't see him," said Younis. "We tried to run a wheel route and you have to give the kid credit, he just waited on the ball and got it. We watched him do the same thing last week on game film."

Triton's offense was on the field for 11:34 of the third quarter. Knox was finally able to run one play with :26 left in the third.

Knox's offense came alive in the fourth quarter. The Redskins drove down the field to the Trojan 11-yard line. Triton's defense held and Graman missed a 28-yard field goal.

The next play from the 20, Creighbaum pitched the ball to Dustin Kreft. Kreft hit Moriarity for 48 yards.

Two plays later, Creighbaum ran through the Redskin defense for a 28-yard touchdown to close the score to 7-6. Sebastian Mueller attempted the extra point but it was blocked by Knox, securing the win for the Redskins.

"They just came over the top and blocked the kick," said Younis. We have to learn to stand up and block when something like that happens."

With the win, Knox improved to 5-3 overall and 3-3 in the NSC. Triton fell to 4-4 overall and 2-4 in the NSC.

The Trojans travel to Jimtown Friday to close out the regular season, while Knox entertains New Prairie.
