On May 29, Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church became an early quest partner when Pastor Stuart Floyd and several ladies of the church presented a $2,000 check to April Slone, Beaman Home’s Dove outreach coordinator, for the building of its new facilities to better serve women in the area in domestic abuse situations.
Because the church’s gift will be matched dollar for dollar by Kosciusko County Community Foundation, Beaman Home’s campaign received a total of $4,000 that evening.
“Beaman Home cannot express how much we appreciate Redeemer’s faithful support and generosity. Their willingness to step forward early and help us take the first steps toward our goal of raising $50,000 to meet the Community Foundation’s challenge is truly a blessing,” said Sue Creighton, Beaman Home’s campaign co-chair.
The same evening they presented their gift to the Beaman Home campaign, the women of Redeemer also worked with Thirty-One gifts to provide women of the Beaman home with new purses.
Many women leave their abuser with nothing but the clothes on their backs. The church provided the purses to help the victims fleeing abuse build confidence by just knowing someone cares about them.
Beaman Home has embarked upon a $1.8 million capital campaign to raise funds for a new Emergency Shelter and Outreach Center.
Currently located in a nearly 100-year-old single-family home with three bedrooms and 13 permanent beds, Beaman Home plans an extensive renovation and expansion of an already-purchased building on Parker Street in Warsaw.
Once completed, the shelter will have 10 resident rooms set up as suites with two rooms sharing a common restroom. It will include two living rooms and adequate staff space. The Outreach Center will include a great room, teaching kitchen, adequate meeting and staff space, as well as a children’s activity area.
At the Beaman Home Board of Directors May meeting, the Kosciusko County Community Foundation presented the board and staff of Kosciusko County Shelter for Abuse (The Beaman Home) with a $50,000 challenge grant toward the construction of a new emergency shelter and outreach center. The grant will match, dollar for dollar, individual and business donations given between May 16 and July 31.
Beaman Home’s board and staff agreed to the challenge and began a quest to raise the necessary funds to meet the match requirements. If successful, Beaman Home will raise $100,000 toward its $1.8 million goal.
Those interested in making a gift, or organizing a fundraising event/activity, to help Beaman Home meet the $50,000 challenge, should contact Beaman Home Executive Director Tracie Hodson by calling 574-372-3503 or by emailing [email protected][[In-content Ad]]
