Red Cross Seeks Volunteers for Project SAFE

July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.

By Staff Report-

The Kosciusko County Chapter of the American Red Cross is encouraging fire safety information to be distributed to homes throughout Kosciusko County.

The event is for Project SAFE (Smoke Alarms for Everyone) Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon, followed by a free lunch at the Kosciusko Community Foundation meeting room.

Free T-shirts will be provided to volunteers who pre-register.

It is part of the Red Cross mission to help communities prepare for disaster and encourage people to take steps to minimize the risk of potentially preventable disasters like home fires, by remembering two key fire safety steps: install a working smoke alarm and develop a fire escape plan.

A functioning smoke alarm is the single most important factor in preventing deaths or injuries from a home fire.

To volunteer for this event, call the American Red Cross of Kosciusko County at 574-267-5244.
