Red Cross Fundraiser Planned March 27

Attention all buckaroos and saloon girls!

Break out your boots, hats and red bandannas to support the Kosciusko County Chapter of the American Red Cross at this year's Red Bandanna Ball March 27.

The theme of this year's event is an old-time saloon with a kicked-back atmosphere, meaning guests are expected to dress casually. Plan to see plenty of cowpokes and saloon gals.[[In-content Ad]]Along with the casual attire, something else has change for the event this year - the location.

The Red Bandanna Ball will be in the Taharaa Banquet Room at Warsaw's Noa Noa restaurant on Eastlake Drive. The Junk Yard Band will entertain the guests at the ball.

The annual Red Ball is the major fundraiser for the Kosciusko County Chapter of the American Red Cross. Last year the event, which includes both live and silent auctions, raised more than $43,000. All proceeds from the Red Bandanna Ball go directly to the local chapter to provide services for disasters such as floods and fires. The money also goes to help with local blood drives.

From July 1, 2008, to June 30, 2009, the Kosciusko County Chapter of the American Red Cross provided food, shelter, clothing prescription medications, eyeglasses and other services during 43 events, helping 152 people. It also held 89 bloodmobiles and collected 5,691 units of blood.

Cheryl Blakemore and Sylvia Aguirre are the event coordinators for the Red Bandanna Ball, while the board of directors, officers and staff, include Carol Stanton, executive director; Breanna Robinson, director of program services; Julie Fleurantin, administrative assistant; Lisa Fulton, board chair; Peggy Lieffring, vice chair; Sandra Parra, treasurer; and Michael Suhany, secretary. Members of the Kosciusko County Chapter of the American Red Cross are Julie Bowers, Rodrigo Diaz, Karen Nelson, Leslie Piazza, Wayne Warren, Jim Brennan, Gary McDaniel, Jeff Neumann and Burton Ramsey.

Tickets for the Red Bandanna Ball are $100. Anyone who would like to attend and has not received an invitation should contact the American Red Cross at 574-267-5244 to add their names to the guest list or make a reservation over the phone.
