The annual Red Ball for the Kosciusko County American Red Cross begins at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Taharaa Banquet Room at Warsaw's Noa Noa Restaurant on Eastlake Drive. This year's theme is an old-time saloon with a kicked-back atmosphere.[[In-content Ad]]Guests are expected to dress casually, and enjoy the laid-back theme of the event.
However, with the success of the Warsaw boys basketball team, many people who originally planned to be at the event will be in Indianapolis cheering on the Tigers in the state finals. Considering the pleasant, yet unexpected change, organizers of the event have made a change to the procedures for the auction normally held at the event.
The silent auction still will be open at the Red Bandanna Ball, but people also will be able to purchase items from the silent auction before the event for a "buy now" price. If the item is purchased before the event, it will be taken off the roster for Saturday night's auction.
The "buy now" prices are as follows: Lasik or eyelid surgery from Grossnickle Eye Center, $5,000; Coach purse and wallet, $500; Warsaw Cut Glass beer steins, $250; two Wagon Wheel season tickets, $350; Juicy Couture sunglasses, $180; Health & Wellness Center membership, $600; Colt's corn-hole game, $150; children's pony party, $450; women's cowboy boots, $250; salsa dance lessons from Giverny Studio, $150; John Wayne movies and Stetson hat, $350; Art & Soul bracelet, $75; freestanding fire pit, $200; JB Furniture leather bench, $600; and a Green Egg smoker, $1,600.
The "buy now" prices were set to help raise funds needed by the Kosciusko County American Red Cross. All funds raised in this event stay here to help local people.
"All buy now amounts are in the hopes of raising the funds needed by our local Red Cross chapter and have been published out of respect to our event coinciding with the Warsaw Tiger's state championship game," said Cheryl Blakemore, event co-organizer. "We are making every effort to have the game televised on the big screen in the Taharaa room, and will at a minimum broadcast the game so no fan will miss out."
People who are not able to attend the event also may bid on the live auction items, which include four Colts field-level suite tickets for the game against the Houston Texan or Jacksonville Jaguars; a Bower's Jewelry sterling silver diamond necklace and earrings; and a a luxury limo bus tour for 14 through Michigan wine country, which includes breakfast and a visit to a wine festival.
For more information about bidding on any auction item, contact Blakemore at 574-551-9813.
The Junk Yard Band will entertain the guests at the ball.
The annual Red Ball is the major fundraiser for the Kosciusko County Chapter of the American Red Cross. Last year the event, which includes both live and silent auctions, raised more than $43,000.
From July 1, 2008, to June 30, 2009, the Kosciusko County Chapter of the American Red Cross provided food, shelter, clothing prescription medications, eyeglasses and other services during 43 events, helping 152 people. It also held 89 bloodmobiles and collected 5,691 units of blood.
