Real Issues

We hear a lot about fair or fairness in the media and from demagogue politicians. Recently the old term from the '70s came up - The Fairness Doctrine. This has to do allegedly with balancing opinions in the media and giving the other 15 sides of the issue a chance. Which always boils down to just two. Most of time I have to listen to foreign news to find out what the hell is happening.
Sometimes getting older at least revives your long-term memory. I remember quite well when the fairness doctrine was enforced by the politicians back in the day.
If you were a right-wing conservative in most urban areas, you were frozen out of almost all debates. It was like the sound of one hand clapping. The Social Marxists (liberals) controlled most all major talk radio.
Oh yes, let me assure you there is little comparison between what is referred to as a right-wing conservative back then as to the foxes in sheep's clothing that call themselves right-wing conservatives today. Back then, there was still a lot that could have been conserved. Today, there is very little left worth conserving, and even that is slipping fast.
What passes for a right-wing conservative today would cause Barry Goldwater to scratch his head.
Now the pendulum hasn't swung much in all that time. Same game, new faces. Back then it was a Washington NeoLiberals that interfered with free speech, now its corporations and billionaires.
Both the honest left and right are still left out in the cold and referred to as the extreme fringe. But if you take the time to seek them out, that's where real issues are being talked about. The only Democratic medium left is the Internet and watch out, the boys have their evil eye on that too.
