ELWOOD – Raymond M. McDaniel, 86, Elwood, passed away Sept. 19, 2013, at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital.
He was born Oct. 27, 1926, to Raymond C. and Mary Goetz McDaniel. On Aug. 13, 1950, he married the love of his life, Betty Mae Fluckey McDaniel, who preceded him in death Oct. 7, 2002.
He retired from Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. after several years of service. He was a member of East Main Street Christian Church and the Elwood Masonic Quincy Lodge. He enjoyed teaching oil painting, and was very active in Elwood Band Parents, Girl and Boy Scouts organizations.
Surviving are a sister, Ruth Chappell; a brother, Wayne McDaniel; two sons, Gary (and spouse Arlea) McDaniel, Mentone, and Richard McDaniel, Elwood; two daughters, Amy (and spouse Brad) Swain, Bloomington; and Laurie (and spouse Keith) Kelley, Fort Wayne; four grandchildren: Chris McDaniel, Rachel Lenfestey, Jason Kelley and Matthew Kelley; four great-grandchildren: Dane and Hayden, Carter and Marshall; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Katherine, Mary Alice and Margaret.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, with the Rev. Roger Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with a Masonic memorial service at 7 p.m.
