Ray Richard Hornish, 91, of Grace Village Retirement Community, 337 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, died at 2:45 a.m. June 4, 2011, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born Sept. 6, 1919, in Putnam County, Ohio, to Ray and Elsie May Hornish. On Dec. 30, 1939,  he married Mary Janice Rickner, who survives.
He was a 1937 graduate of Oakwood (Ohio) High School. He owned a construction company for 20 years, then began farming in 1973, retiring in 1985. He volunteered for 10 years with Roving Volunteers in Christ’s Service, helping others. He moved to Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, in 1989.
Also surviving are a son, Gregory (and spouse Sue) Hornish, Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, Beth Ann Andersen,  Tampa, Fla.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, George Hornish, Nappanee; and a sister, Vivian Danz, California. He was preceded in death by a  sister and a brother.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Dr. Blake Neff officiating. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Sherman Cemetery, Oakwood, Ohio.
Calling is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
