He was born Aug. 26, 1921, in Kosciusko County, to Roy E. and Thelma May Dunn Hauth. On April 9, 1944, at Dunfee Christian Church, he married Maxine V. Noyer, who survives.
A Warsaw native, he was a 1939 Warsaw High School graduate. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-46. He then moved to Columbia City and lived in the same house since his return from the Army. For 30 years, he worked in the axle plant for Dana Corp., Fort Wayne, retiring in 1978. He attended Dunfee Missionary Church.
Also surviving are his children: Peggy (and spouse Richard) Ruge, Lincoln, Neb.; Rex Hauth, Columbia City; Jean (and spouse Woody) Trostel, Portland, Ore.; and Philip (and spouse Lisa) Hauth, Fort Wayne; 12 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three brothers: Earnest (and spouse Merl) Hauth, Warsaw; Roy Jr. (and spouse JoEllen) Hauth, Winona Lake; and Austin (and spouse Patty) Hauth, Florida; and a sister, Ruth Ann Neff, Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George and William Hauth; and a sister, Margaret Ann Taylor.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with the Rev. Dennis Rowe of Dunfee Missionary Church officiating. Burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, with graveside military honors by members of Whitley County Korean War Veterans Honor Guard.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
