Ralph A. Lawrenz, 91, died Oct. 22, 2009, in Grace Village Healthcare, Winona Lake.

He was born Oct. 8, 1918, in St. Charles, Minn., to Henry and Rose Dewner Lawrenz. On July 3, 1944, in Cheyenne, Wyo., he married Betty J. Johnson, who survives in Winona Lake.

He was a 1936 graduate of Plainview High School, Plainview, Minn. He was a rural mail carrier for Plainview, Minn., Post Office for 25 years, retiring in 1979. He moved to Winona Lake from Minnesota in 1994. He was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Warsaw, and enjoyed woodworking, gardening and being a volunteer worker. He enlisted in the US Army Oct. 3, 1940, and served in World War II. He was honorably discharged March 9, 1945, in Camp Carson, Colo., as a sergeant.

Also surviving are a son, Dave (and spouse Tammy Lawrenz, North Manchester; a daughter, Connie (and spouse Ron) Guetlein, Liberty Hill, Texas; three grandsons: Michael (and spouse Kathy) Guetlein, Monument, Colo.; Jon (and spouse Jennifer) Guetlein, Peoria, Ariz.; and Sean (and spouse Erica) Guetlein, Cedar Park, Texas; two granddaughters, Faith (and spouse Greg) Miller, North Manchester; and Bethany (and spouse Thomas) Armstrong, Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Ruth (and spouse Harold) Essmann, Appleton, Wis.; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Lawrenz in 1992; his father, Henry Lawrenz in 1962; and Alice Ford, 1981.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Warsaw, with the Rev. Stuart Floyd officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
