By Staff Report-

Today's rally for the troops in Warsaw's Central Park will begin at 10 a.m. with an official program beginning at 11 a.m., according to organizer Shanna Coon.

The American Legion Color Guard, speakers, including Warsaw Mayor Ernie Wiggins, and songs will be shared.

Coon said the master of ceremonies is Dave Halyaman.

At 5 p.m. there will be a patriotic spirit contest with a candlelight memorial for the late Lance Cpl. David Fribley.

The National Guard wives support group will be accepting items for care packages during the day and proceeds from food sales and bumper stickers sales will go to the USO.

Coon has friends serving the military in Iraq. Co-organizers Melinda Bartley and Cherish Heckaman, whose brother, Josh, is a U.S. Marine in Iraq, plan to make the event a fund-raiser for the USO Care Package Fund, too.
