R. Genevieve Barlow, 96, died at 9:57 a.m. Aug. 10, 2012, at Gardens at Lake City, Warsaw.
She was born June 23, 1916, in Ridgeville, to George and Maude DeBoy Retter. Her stepmother was Adelphia Retter. On April 18, 1936, in Muncie, she married J. Lester Barlow, who died Feb. 6, 1995.
She was a 1934 graduate of Ridgeville High School. She moved to Warsaw from Florida in 1993. Prior to moving to Warsaw, they had a cottage on Sawmill Lake and later on Lake Tippecanoe. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. She gave exceptional care of her sons when they were growing up, and she loved her family.
Survivors include two sons, Terry (and spouse Alice) Barlow, Danville, and George (and spouse Thelma) Barlow, Leesburg; a granddaughter, Dawn (and spouse Steve) Wagner, Danville; five step-grandchildren: Barry (and spouse Janet) Earley, Converse; Larry Earley, Indianapolis; Bruce (and spouse Rita) Earley, Goshen; two great-grandchildren, Rachael and Kelly; six step-great-grandchildren, Jason, Joel, Monica, Eric, Lance and Chad; a great-great-grandson, Gabriel; and eight step-great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Cecil and Hobert Retter; a half brother, Lloyd Retter; and a half sister, Barbara Ashley.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Barry Earley, Liberty Baptist Church, Converse, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
